Virtual Assistants Defined

What is a Virtual Assistant?

A Virtual Assistant (or VA) is a service provider who specializes in providing administrative support services to clients in an ongoing, collaborative relationship or on a per-project basis. This support is primarily administrative, secretarial and clerical in nature; however, many Virtual Assistants offer additional specialties that fall under creative and technical services.

Virtual Assistants come from a variety of business backgrounds, with at least five years of administrative experience earned in the real (non-virtual) business world working in upper level capacities such as administrative assistant, executive assistant, secretary, legal assistant, paralegal, legal secretary, real estate assistant, office manager, etc. This level of experience ensures that a Virtual Assistant has the skill sets, training, and business knowledge that are the hallmark of a truly qualified professional.

Why use a Virtual Assistant?

Most SOHO and small business owners have neither the space nor the budget for administrative staff. However, they do need help at times with “administrivia,” preparing presentations, or completing special projects. Larger businesses can also benefit by having a Virtual Assistant work on special projects, event planning and scheduling.

We are less expensive than a full-time employee. We bill you by invoice for only the hours we work and for any expenses incurred on your behalf, so you won't have to deal with payroll or 1099 tax forms. We can also be less expensive than using Temporary Employment Agencies because we do not include any overhead fees in your invoices. Because we rely on our clients to be steady customers and provide us with referrals, we will give you the same (or better) loyalty as a full-time employee.
